Sugar, sugar and more sugar - it's everywhere!!!
In my house I do try to run from the sugar monster that likes my hips far too much, and always comes disguised as chocolate!
Anyway, I am always trying to come up with 'healthier' versions of delicious treat food for morning and afternoon tea particularly for my children.
Here is a simple fruit crumble for afternoon tea, no wheat and no white sugar.
Chop up two types of fruit. I've used apple and some tinned peaches in natural juice. Using only two types of fruit is less work than chopping up heaps of different types, and allows for variety next time you want to use the idea.
Toast two or three of your favourite type of nuts. I've used flaked almonds, macadamias, and pecans. Just put them in a dry saucepan over heat to toast.
Ok, so I want to know what you like to serve up sugar free?

My husband has been asking me to bake muffins with Agave nectar instead of sugar. You just have to cut down cook time and a little bit of the other cooking liquids. I must say, they are still very good!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

I just LOVE the aroma of toasting nuts in the oven. It makes them so much more flavorful too! I'll have to try them over fruit next time:) Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteAmy your blog is delightful, I had a poke around. And, recipe please for muffins baked with agave nectar because it sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteSue, toasting nuts is the smell of comfort. :)
Thank you both for your comments.x
