Stills: A Weekly Collection

I love spotting the beautiful in my unfolding week. 18/2/2013 - 24/2/2013

1. Some yummy dinosaur cookies for arvo tea. The bakery down the road is doing my head in with yumminess - or should I say my hips!
2. My fave words of the week that I swoon over and am inspired by. I love posting beautiful words to instagram for all us girls. Feel free to follow along with me, I would love us to inspire each other.
3. Sick! My little, usually very active and bright girl sleeping in the day, with a flu (she never sleeps in the day - since 18 months old. YES I KNOW, it was a shock to the system back then - I think I'm still in shock). If you knew her you would know this means she is sick.
4. A vintage yellow button up blouse with cute bow that I was wearing on Day 22 for Fox In Flats #FABruary style challenge.
5. Spice scented candle reminding me that autumn is on it's way.
6. Spotted over at Shoppe Girls - 100 ways to be elegant. My fave is number 100. Have a read here. (Image from Shoppe Girls.)
7. Cubby house fun.
8. Blue sky and white clouds for a minute before the next lot of Queensland rain pour down will arrive. Stay safe my loves if you are in the rain zone these next few days.

Have a gorgeous new week beautiful as Monday is soon to be upon us.
I can't wait to see what your week fills with.

Woof Whistle Red!

These are my wardrobe must haves - go on because you get to be the beautiful - YOU.

I love the colour red.

Rich and deep or vibrant and bold.

I am talking the you must have this colour in your wardrobe kind.

Red is passion, mystery, stand out, flirty, powerful, romantic, cheeky, feminine swoon.

I think every women should own something red to wear - a lot or a little, statement piece or hidden just waiting to be revealed.

Killer heels, peep toe, flats, sandals = so awesome. I can't resist a pair of red pumps.
Add a pop of red with a belt.

Freezing Love

I love my freezer.

Yep that's right, my freezer!!!

It is the key to my "I'm too tired to cook" winge.

Freezers are beautiful.

My freezer is full of things that I can pull out, defrost quickly and fill the dinner time plates to get full tummies in no time at all.
Last night I was exhausted and suffering from good old Monday-itis. The kids where tired and cranky, the neighbours kids who live just a meter away (fun) where tired and cranky, my dog was moppy and the washing had taken over the house. I could just not be bothered, plus I wanted to watch the spice girls on My Kitchen Rules, who didn't, so I left dinner up to the freezer.

Spaghetti! In a pot reheated, grated cheese and a fork = delicious. Thank you freezer.

Freezer meals are perfect.

6 Good freezer treasures to stash for "itis" days.

1. Spaghetti or pre cooked mince ready for lettuce cups, tacos, burritos. I always cook a big batch of mince/spaghetti and freeze half.
2. Your fave stew: chicken, beef, lamb. In mine you will find: butter chicken, korma, what we call pirate stew (a bit of everything in a yummy gravy sauce). These are perfect with some rice, buttered toast, or some puff pastry crisped in the oven over the reheated goodness. Again I cook a big batch and freeze half.
3. Sausages. Now I confess these are uncooked but they are so quick and easy to cook. Try them with a drizzle of: honey, soy and sesame oil or you could just serve with bread and sauce.
4. Bacon. Yep I freeze bacon in lots of 4 strips. Pull out straight in the fry pan and serve with scramble eggs, some spinach and sauce - yum! Breakfast for dinner goes down a treat.
5. Frozen chips. These are good. You can buy them or make them yourself and freeze. Into the oven and then drizzled with sauce or gravy and you have a very simple meal which the kids will love. We sometimes defrost that bacon and sprinkle sliced bacon strips with cheese over the top and it is amazing.
6. Ice-cream - ok not a meal but there is always ice-cream! :)

What "itis" food do you store in your freezer?

Umbrella Note

I love umbrellas.

Colourful, chic, trendy, elegant or masculine, lacy, dots, stripes - all types.

We have had so much rain this last week and my heart truly goes out to all those who are suffering and facing loss in the floods and severe weather.  As we see the images on the news our prayers go out to you. Thank you to all those who are helping with the clean up and also to those who can donate their goods, finances or time, you are bringing the beautiful to those who need it.

So, because of all this rain we have had the umbrellas out. They really are fun while being practical of course - keeping those head and shoulders dry despite my frizzy hair that I can not get smooth.

Puddles, drops of water fast and slow, drizzle and enveloped into all that gray with a pop of colour in our umbrella to bring cheer in the wet.

Are you an umbrella girl or raincoat people or the just run type???

 Have a gorgeous Friday.

Rose Petal Swoon

I love rose petals.

Velvet and soft, the prettiest of colours, simply elegant.

I have always loved roses. The really are gorgeous and who can resist being given one or a dozen as a gift.
As much of the whole flower is beautiful I do love using the petals too.

Some of my favourite simple rose petal uses are:
(Ps if using for eating/drinking purposes you want chemical free ones or organic ones from your yard.)

- Sprinkle them in the bath water and light a candle and you have a home spa (for five minutes at least until someone knocks or barges in :) ).
- Ice a yummy cake in: white, pale pink, peach, light yellow or chocolate icing. Decorate with a scatter of rose petals = amazing and no one will resist a slice.
- Dried rose petals look gorgeous in a glass pot of brewing tea for your guest.
- Why not freeze some leaves in ice-cubes. Add them to glasses of  sparkling water or a punch bowl of pink deliciousness.
- Send a letter to a friend and include some dried petals in the envelope and even a dash of rose essential oil or perfume to seal the encouragement or love.
- Use for anything romantic...I'll let your imagination think of how.
- Decorate a table for dinner with the petals just because.
- Fill clear balloons with petals and blow them up to decorate for a party.
- Place a couple in your daughter's lunch box to discover with an I adore you note - Valentines day is coming.
- bake then into a yummy shortbread biscuit recipe.

There are so many things you can do with rose petals.

Rose petals are beautiful.

What have you used rose petals for around the house?
